Kilravock Castle (pronounced 'Kil-rawk') dates from 1460. It offers a unique and friendly Christian environment in a truly historical setting. The castle is situated between Inverness and Nairn, close to the Moray Firth with its stunning white sandy beaches, seals and dolphins. From here, the whole of the Highlands opens up for you, with historic sites such as the neolithic Clava Cairns; Cawdor, Brodie and Darnaway Castles; Culloden Moor and Loch Ness just a few miles away. The Castle Grounds The 40 acres of beautiful grounds make a perfect setting for the castle, and they are noted for a large variety of beautiful trees - some of which are centuries old. The River Nairn which runs along the border of the Estate, the tree garden and the woodland and nature trails all abound in bird and animal life, while the local surrounding area offers forests, hills, valleys and lochs - all awaiting unhurried exploration. Facilities The Castle contains a family museum along with various historical artefacts including the punch bowl used to serve Bonnie Prince Charlie, boots worn at the Battle of Culloden and various items of armoury. There are guided tours of the Castle in season daily at 9.30am and 2.30pm on Wednesday, by arrangement with the management Restrictions Unfortunately we are not able to accept pets into the building, and there is a no smoking policy throughout the buildings. The use of cameras and camcorders is not permitted in the Castle.
