The Local Area
There
are several walks on the Kilravock Estate, one of which traces the River
Nairn, which borders the estate on the south. Kilravock Castle gardens
are of special interest to tree-lovers as there are many rare and
specimen trees, some of great age and size.
Centrally situated in the Scottish Highlands, Kilravock
Castle provides an
ideal base from which to explore some of the loveliest parts of the
Highlands. The local area offers forest, hills, valleys, lochs and
beauty spots, all awaiting unhurried exploration.
Attractions close by include:
-
Culloden Battlefield
- Fort
George
-
Cawdor Castle
-
Clava Cairns
The
village of Nairn is 7 miles west of Kilravock, where there is a heated
indoor swimming pool, two golf courses (one of which is championship
standard) and a sandy beach with sea bathing. The highland capital,
Inverness, is 10 miles west and the airport is only 4 miles away.
